Bring a touch of elegance and tradition to your holiday table with this simple, delicious Homemade Marzipan recipe. Perfect as a sweet treat, a festive gift, or even a fun kitchen project, this version of marzipan skips refined sugars and uses natural honey for sweetness. Plus, a hint of cardamom adds a warm, exotic flavor to elevate this classic dessert.

Why Make Your Own Marzipan?

Store-bought marzipan often contains artificial flavors and excess sugar. This homemade version is not only healthier but also incredibly easy to make. Plus, it’s customizable—shape it into festive designs or keep it simple for a no-fuss dessert.

The Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Almond Meal: Use blanched almond meal for a smooth, uniform color, or unblanched for a more rustic look.

  • 2 Tbsp Raw Liquid Honey: A natural sweetener that adds depth and richness.

  • 1 Tbsp Water (to start): Adjust as needed to achieve the right consistency.

  • Cardamom (to taste): Adds a fragrant, festive flavor—start with a pinch and adjust to your liking.

The Directions

  1. Mix the Ingredients: In a bowl, combine almond meal, honey, water, and cardamom. Stir or knead the mixture until it forms a uniform mass. Aim for a play-dough-like consistency.

  2. Adjust as Needed: If the mixture feels too dry, add more water, a teaspoon at a time. For extra sweetness, add a bit more honey.

  3. Shape the Marzipan: Roll the marzipan into balls, shape into festive figures, or use molds to create decorative designs.

  4. Serve or Store: Enjoy immediately or refrigerate to firm up. Marzipan can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
